East African Adventure

Hi Everybody

Welcome to the mytropicalvisions blog written by me, Dan Doucette. This is my first time writing a blog but for those of you who have been receiving my emails from past trips will find the blog to contain the same detailed, diary like style stories that you have been reading for years. The point of this blog is to try and reach a larger audience for my travel stories. Please tell anyone you know who might be interested in reading about my travels to follow this blog. I'm going to write this blog with information about myself and other trips that newcomers to the blog might not know about me.
I have been working a seasonal job since 1998. I travel in the off season from November to March and this trip is my eleventh trip in a row. I have been to South America, Africa, South East Asia, Australia and Europe. This year I am circumnavigating Lake Victoria in East Africa. My trip starts in Nairobi, Kenya and then goes northwest to Uganda, south to Rwanda, east to Tanzania and then north back to Nairobi. I leave on Nov. 19. This is my third time visiting Africa, in 2006/07 I went to Madagascar,South Africa and Swaziland and in 2004/05 I went to Ghana, Cameroon and Gabon. The focus of my trip is to see wildlife but I also enjoy trekking, caving and climbing mountains. The wildlife highlight of this year's trip will be tracking the endangered mountain gorillas in Uganda and Rwanda. Other wildlife highlights on past trips have been seeing tigers in India, swimming with whale sharks in the Philippines, face to face with a clouded leopard in Borneo and many false charges by elephants and rhinos in South Africa.
East Africa has plenty to offer and there should be plenty of adventure this year.

For those of you new to my me and my blog, I'm going to post all my emails from my 4 month trip throughout India last year. I have edited most of the emails but there are still plenty of small mistakes so bear with me. I have divided the 105 pages of the trip into 3 sections - Northeast India, Central India and South India. Enjoy and please feel free to comment on anything during my trip. Thanks for following mytropicalvisions blog.

Dan
